Fitzroy SLSC December Newsletter
Hi everyone,
Summer is Here!!! Patrols kicked off well last weekend. Remember
to show the new Bronzies in each patrol the ropes and give them
opportunities to use their new knowledge! Junior surf is
going very well with large numbers attending on Sundays and senior
trainings are beginning to pick up as exams finish. We would like
to say a special congratulations to Piko (Ross) and Megan Peters,
and Emma Crofskey and Joe Govier who have both had baby boys. We
hope Xavier and George are doing well.
See you on the beach

Christmas patrols
As Christmas falls on a weekend this year we have to provide a
patrol service. Lifeguarding is the foundation of our club and we
are in need of volunteers to be rostered onto patrol on Christmas
day. If you can spare an hour or two on Sunday the 25th
please let either Piko, Sophie or Monique know. There will also be
a roster in the Patrol tower where you can sign up.
Patrol uniforms
As State is the principle sponsor of Surf Life Saving New
Zealand we are required to have everyone in the new State uniforms
for patrols. If you have old uniforms come down on Friday night
after the long distance event to trade them in.
Refresher
The refresher course date has been set for the
4th of December starting at 12 noon.
You need to complete this in order to compete or patrol this
year.
Junior surf
Junior surf is well underway with huge numbers attending every
Sunday. With such an influx of numbers we are requiring more and
more equipment and more people to help out. Any donations or ideas
for raising funds as well as any extra hands for Sundays junior
surf sessions are welcome. We are also searching for a small group
of parents to participate in the 'Pig in a Barrow' raffle
fundraiser on 16 December 5-7pm. Last year this raised over one
thousand dollars for junior surf and we are aiming for the same, if
not more this year.
Subs
Just a reminder that subs are due. The bar is open on Friday
nights after the long distance race so payments can be made then.
There are also togs and rash shirts for sale too.
IRB training
For all those interested in upskilling by becoming either IRB
crewmen or drivers then please let us know! We have a large group
wanting to sit their drivers before Christmas. Remember you need 10
hours driving experience, a sound theoretical basis of motor
maintenance and your radio operators to sit your drivers. There
will be a meeting on the 2nd of December at 7:30pm for
all those interested in competing in IRBs this season. If you
cannot make this meeting please contact Todd
